So I spent the last two weeks here in Rome, working at school and homework during the week and then going to cool places in Rome on the weekend. Here's a rundown:
Last Thursday (over a week ago) I went to the Villa Borghese, the largest park in Rome. It used to be a patrician's villa until it was garnered by the city and now is a beautiful hub of life and recreation:
A cool fountain:
Some park:

An old lady feeding the geese:

And a lake in the middle with a temple to Aesclepius, Apollo's son and the god of healing:

The next day (last friday) my friends Charlotte and Liz and I went to south Rome and explored a little, going into a museum of the leftover Capitoline pieces. Right by the stop is the pyramid of Caius Cestius, who built the pyramid as a tomb for himself in 1 BC. He built it cause he was obsessed with all of the Cleopatra scandals going on at the time.

And here's a Roman water fountain:

Charlotte and Liz:

After the pyramid we walked to the Circus Maximus, where all of the races were held in ancient Rome. The dirt path is the track.

There were bugs so Charlotte tried to hit them.

I split off from the girls and explored a bit of my own. I found Augustus Caesar's forum:

And also Trajan's Markets, built by the emperor Trajan, one of the 5 Good Emperors of Rome:

a CAT lives there!

Another day (I think sunday) I went to the Via Appia Antica (the ancient Appian Way) where a bunch of ruins of aqueducts still stand:

I didn't do much all week or this weekend. Maggie came to visit this weekend which was super exciting and we just explored Rome (amid lots and lots of rain, hail, and thunderstorms). But on easter morning I got up hella early and made it to St. Peter's Square just in time...for it to rain... alot!! We were soaked by the end of the service and it was ridiculous but still worth it cause I got to see the pope and be in St. Peter's with thousands of other people on easter!

He's the one in the middle (you can barely see...lol)

WELL! Those are my two weeks in Rome. We'll see what I do this week before I take off either for Sicily or Switzerland. Have a great week everyone!

It all looks so pretty (well, except for Ratzinger, he's about as creepy-looking as Cheney)! I can't wait to get your suggestions for what to see in Rome. Too bad it wasn't sunny on Easter, that would've been nice, huh?
